deliverance
I took this photo in 1997 on the Bowery outside Paragon, the kitchen suppliers. That’s my ‘73 Dodge Swinger ‘under G.O.D’! (Petty blue if you are curious - it’s a good story) The Newark based ‘Guaranteed Overnight Delivery’ moving Co closed up shop a few years later in 2004 but to a new arrival in the city, these trucks were always noticeable.
The same spot in 1982 - what a fantastic storefront. They just don’t make them like this anymore! I like how the front and back of the two cars, being roughly the same size and color, strangely relate to each other..
Spread over 4 buildings, everything they sold was represented, creating a fantastic visual catalogue.

There’s a theme here: from G.O.D. delivery; Jesus, the general contractor; to just arriving in Rome and coming across Christ car wash. Keeping it clean.

No photoshop, an x-acto knife collage from 1992(!) - I couldn’t believe how well these two postcards slotted together - a perfect fit. When making these cards, I was looking for images that worked together, never really thinking about how the resulting final image would be read literally by others (….if that makes sense)
DAVE
You’ve got to give it to Dave for some quick thinking. Generally I don’t post other people’s photos, especially if I can’t credit the person, but this was a snapshot I came across a few years ago, and I put it aside - it’s too good and seems appropriate for this post.
I could have gone with the lenticular postcard of JC on the cross, that really blinks when tilted (some serious kitsch!), but winky/3D cards don’t read very well on the screen.
